The approximately 7000 m² of the centre are primarily divided into two zones: one for communal use and one for individual treatments. The communal zone includes the large “Get in Shape” pool containing 550 m³ of seawater, with a variety of hydrotherapy points including swimming against the current, seats and loungers with micro-bubbles, water jets for shoulders, thighs, abdomen, legs and soles of the feet, swan-neck water jets and cascades, and large seats with micro-bubbles. In addition, part of the pool is in the open air, enabling users to enjoy the water stations directly in the sunshine. Two smaller pools are located next to the Get in Shape pool. One has a temperature of 16ºC and the other 37ºC, as a contrast to the temperature of 33ºC in the large pool. There is also a pool for aqua gym, given by an instructor. The entire area is set into the mountainside, providing views of the sea. The complex is covered with a large, transparent dome which lets the sunlight shine through and adds to the feeling of space and wellbeing experienced in the pool. The zone for more personalised treatments consists of cubicles with bathtubs, pressurised water jets, treatments using algae, massage… The dividing walls do not reach the ceiling, which means there is natural ventilation throughout. There is also a sauna, a Turkish bath and a gym. The décor consists of warm materials (ceramics, wood and coloured awnings) and home-style furnishings (pergolas, latticing and cane furniture).

The Talasoterapia Canarias centre at Gloria Palace San Agustin Thalasso & Hotel was opened in 1998. Equipped with the latest technological advances, it is one of the world’s most modern centres, with more than 7000 m² given over to relaxation and comfort. This extensive area is entirely involved in health, with a total of four seawater pools, including the dynamic pool, gym pool and the large “Get in Shape” pool, which consists of a relaxing circuit of seawater heated to different temperatures (33ºC/37ºC) with 33 hydromassage points.
This was the first large installation to open in the island of Gran Canaria specifically to provide services using seawater. It went on to become the largest thalassotherapy centre not only in the Island but also in Europe, constituting a model for the development of further facilities.
The treatments provided at the centre are for rheumatic conditions, post-traumatic conditions and stress-related problems such as nervous fatigue, anxiety and weight loss, as well as cellulite. In addition to the large “Get in Shape” pool – one of the centre’s main attractions - Talasoterapia Canarias San Agustín is equipped with a sauna, a large gym with modern therapeutic and sports facilities, a beauty salon, 35 cubicles for individual treatments and large relaxation areas. In 1999 the centre received the Hotel Initiative Award for the Best Health Hotel from the Canary Islands Government.

In accordance with the centre’s philosophy, great care was taken in the design in order to create a magical feeling.
While the design of the building is spectacular, the inside murals were also made with care. Renowned Gran Canarian artist Pepe Dámaso played a major role in many aspects of the work: a large mural which goes right around the main pool (using ceramic, stone and weathering steel); several “seaweed” sculptures both hanging and standing upright; groups of large stones arranged as sculptures; marine designs for the enamel work and the ceramic tiles in the cubicles; decorative paintings on the ceiling; and an enormous outside sculpture covered in pieces of broken tiling (trencadis).
